Used Cars Under $15,000 in Marion, IA — Near Cedar Rapids

Houdek Auto Center has been selling vehicles from 7th Avenue in Marion since 1976, and everything on this page is priced under $15,000. It's the part of the lot that moves fastest: inspected, road-tested cars and SUVs for first-time drivers, daily commuters, and anyone who would rather not take on a big payment. Prices, mileage and photos on every vehicle above are current, and new arrivals land regularly — if you don't see the right one today, browse our full used inventory or tell us what you're after.

What $15,000 Buys at Houdek Auto Center

The under-$15,000 lineup changes week to week, but it tends to fall into three groups:

All-wheel-drive wagons and crossovers. Subaru is a staple here — the Outback, Forester and Legacy are the vehicles Eastern Iowa drivers ask for first once the forecast turns.

Compact and midsize SUVs. Recent examples in this price range include the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Compass, Buick Encore, Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Murano. See them alongside the rest of our used SUVs for sale in Marion.

Commuter sedans. Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion and Volkswagen Passat are regulars, and they're hard to beat on fuel cost for the drive down I-380. More in our used car inventory.

Hauling instead of commuting? Our used trucks are listed separately, and families who need a third row can shop used third-row SUVs and minivans.

What to Expect at This Price

Under $15,000, you're usually buying miles rather than model year. Most vehicles in this range have 90,000 miles or more, and that's exactly why the inspection matters: every vehicle we retail is inspected and road-tested before it goes on the lot, and a vehicle history report is available on request. Vehicles priced at $10,000 and above are also backed by our 7-day / 700-mile exchange guarantee, so if the car isn't right, you can bring it back and apply the full purchase price to something else.

Why All-Wheel Drive Is Worth It in Eastern Iowa

Linn County winters are hard on a two-wheel-drive commuter. Between the climb out of Marion on Highway 13, the stretch of I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, and the gravel county roads east toward Springville and Anamosa, all-wheel drive earns its keep here in a way it doesn't in most of the country. It's the main reason so much of our under-$15,000 inventory is Subaru and Jeep — good AWD and 4WD vehicles hold up on Iowa roads, and they hold their value when you go to trade.

Financing a Used Car Under $15,000

A lower price usually means a lower payment, but the terms still matter. Run the numbers before you come in with our car loan calculator, then apply online — we work with financing options for all credit types, and the application takes only a few minutes. Already have something to put toward it? Get your trade-in value in minutes, or sell us your car outright if you're not buying today.

Serving Marion, Cedar Rapids and the Rest of Linn County

We're at 150 7th Avenue in Marion, IA 52302 — minutes from Uptown Marion and just northeast of Cedar Rapids. Shoppers drive in regularly from Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, Robins, Ely, Mount Vernon, Springville, Center Point, Anamosa, Solon, North Liberty and Iowa City. Get directions, call (319) 447-6355, or send us a question about any vehicle on this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many miles does a used car under $15,000 usually have?

In our inventory, most vehicles under $15,000 have 90,000 miles or more. Mileage alone isn't the whole story — a well-maintained Subaru or Toyota at 110,000 miles is often a better buy than a neglected car at 70,000 — which is why every vehicle we sell is inspected and road-tested first.

Can I get financed on a car under $15,000 with less-than-perfect credit?

Yes — we work with financing options for all credit types. Approval and rate depend on the lender and your situation, so the fastest way to find out where you stand is to apply online.

Is all-wheel drive worth the extra money in Iowa?

For most Linn County drivers, yes. If you commute on I-380 or live off a gravel road, AWD or 4WD makes winter mornings easier and tends to resell better in this market. If you drive mostly in town, a front-wheel-drive sedan with good tires can save you money up front and at the pump.

Can I trade in my current vehicle toward one of these?

Absolutely. Start with an instant trade-in value from home, and we'll confirm it when we see the vehicle. Trade equity comes straight off the price of the car you're buying.

What happens if the vehicle isn't right after I buy it?

On vehicles priced at $10,000 and above, our 7-day / 700-mile exchange guarantee lets you exchange the vehicle and apply the full purchase price to a different one, subject to the terms on that page.

Where can I see these cars in person?

Houdek Auto Center, 150 7th Avenue, Marion, IA 52302. Call (319) 447-6355 or get directions — we're a short drive from Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha and Robins, and a straight shot up I-380 from Iowa City and North Liberty.
